IMAGO offers different licenses for images and videos for sale on behalf of the copyright holders for all content displayed on the website. The respective licenses specify the conditions under which the content may be used, e.g. the type of use, the geographical scope and the medium. The license categories for images and videos available at IMAGO are: Rights Managed, Royalty Free Classic and Royalty Free Premium.
Do I own the footage or images I license from IMAGO for my production?
Licensing grants the right to use copyrighted images or videos for specific purposes. After licensing, the copyright remains with the author, who defines the license terms for the content.
How can I check the license type of an image or footage on IMAGO for my documentary or production?
Each image and video is labeled as either RM (Rights Managed), RF (Royalty Free Classic) or RF Premium (Royalty Free Premium). You will find this labeling directly on the image/video to enable a quick check. For all content, we also offer a filter option that allows you to search only for content that is available in the license category of your choice.
How do I credit IMAGO images and footage in my production?
Upon publication of the images and videos, a copyright notice in the form of "IMAGO / Photographer's Name" must be included. The necessary information can be found in the description text of the image or video.
In which countries can I publish the images and videos?
The publishing rights of the licenses are mentioned in the descriptive text of each image and video. If the country you are looking for is not included, please contact us, and we will help you with the request. If nothing is specified, it means that the license is available for use worldwide.
